Cheonggyecheon is a 10.84km stream that runs between Jongno-gu and Jung-gu.

It is a piece of history belonging to Seoul, a capital city of 600 years, as well as a collection of small, cherished memories held by each and every Seoul citizen.

From July 2003 to September 2005, Cheonggyecheon underwent a remarkable transformation.

It was a large-scale construction project aimed at turning the area into a resting place for citizens, restoring a 5.84km section around the covered Cheonggye-ro and Samil-ro, and installing a total of 22 bridges. With various cultural events now held centered around Cheonggye Plaza, it also serves the role of a public square.

More recently, it has been fulfilling an excellent role as an arts space as well. At creative venues such as Gwangyo Gallery and Cheonggye Creative Studio, visitors can encounter the sensibilities of artists. On weekends, performances by street artists take place.
