Changdeokgung Palace, built in 1405, is one of the most representative palaces of the Joseon Dynasty, where nature and architecture harmonize beautifully. In particular, the Huwon (Secret Garden), designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is renowned as a landmark that showcases the beauty of traditional Korean garden design.

Changdeokgung was not built following an artificial structure like Gyeongbokgung, but was instead constructed to harmonize with nature by making the most of the surrounding terrain. In particular, the rear garden area is much larger compared to other palaces, with trees over 300 years old, ponds, and small pavilions arranged in harmony with nature, offering a beautiful landscape that can still be enjoyed today.

In 1997, recognized as the most authentically Korean of all palaces, it became the only palace to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Closed days: Every Monday (During the spring and autumn Royal Culture Festival, the palace operates without any closed days.
